 Palestinian Villages Info-graphics Workshop

On 22 February 2016, Palestinian Vision Organization (PalVision) in partnership with Jericho Governorate implemented an introductory workshop on “Palestinian Villages Info-graphics,” in order to introduce this social accountability mechanism to individuals and public bodies in the Palestinian Authority (PA). Tajaawob aims to bridge the gap between Palestinian citizens and decision makers through the promotion of two-way accountability and responsibility. The programme provides opportunities for meetings between community groups and representatives of official service providers.

The Deputy Governor of Jericho Governorate, Mr. Jamal Rjoub, opened the workshop stressing the importance of the infographics, describing them as "a qualitative tool,” and hopes that institutions, whether governmental or non-governmental, can utalize this tool to address the national needs. He further elaborated on the useful role of technology plays in the development process. The workshop was attended by representatives from different public bodies such as Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Labour & Housing, Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Health, and others.

PalVision’s South Coordinator, Amer Daraghmeh, presented the role of the program in promoting the concept of social accountability on the span of the last three years cultivating  experience and learning in designing tools and mechanisms of social accountability, including the “Palestinian Villages Info-graphics.”

Alaa Saffouri, Tajaawob’s Coordinator, presented the mechanism by which the info-graphics work, and its importance in strengthening lobbying and advocacy efforts. She emphasized the interactive and simple framework that ensures accessibility to statistics and data through these info-graphics. The info-graphics can be used by any interested groups, whether governmental, non-governmental, community-led, volunteers and activists groups.

This workshop comes as part of a series of sessions conducted by PalVision to introduce "Palestinian Villages Info-graphics.” Two other workshops were organized in Qalqiliya and Bethlehem.
